Amazing how it feels to not have to go to work for the next half year. And I like what I do, but the no responsibility factor is looming very large in my thinking. Of course there is this mad dash to clean up the house ready for our friends, finish packing stuff up, and nothing ever is as quick as hoped for! We do hope to be on the way by noon or maybe even a bit sooner. On our way to delivering the trailer for its water system flush we stopped at the weigh scale and found out that the total weight is 4040. This is well under what our truck is expected to handle so I think we did a good job of packing. Of course how heavy is knitting gear anyway? Okay, so there are a few books too, but not many. I think Lawrie is planning to sleep a lot when he’s not driving:)

Hi! I do a radio show your son Jon listens to. He called the show and mentioned your trip and has posted info in our forums. It sounds like you’ll have a wonderful time!
I saw your itinerary for Atlantic Canada (Halifax is my home town). You should put on your list Peggy’s Cove (the most photographed spot in Canada) and The South Shore, in particular, Lunenburg, where the Bluenose was built (the ship on the dime).
Also in Halifax, the Museum of the Atlantic is a wonderful exhibit about Halifax’s place in world history. And, as you both like gardening, take in Halifax’s Public gardens, often called the “finest example of Victorian public space” in North America.
If you get to the Bay of Fundy area, make sure you have time to see the tides (highest in the world at 65 ft). And make sure you leave room for a lobster dinner … mmmmm … lobster …
I miss my home town and province so I will be visiting it through you. I hope you don’t mind.
As for the Nation’s Capital, make sure you at least visit Parliament Hill. It’s a gorgeous building and really makes you feel connected to the rest of the country.
Have a good, safe trip and enjoy yourselves!
