Moose hunting

I think Lawrie should be writing this … but he isn’t! They didn’t see any bull moose, so they didn’t come home with any meat for the freezer. Now this is fine by me cause we don’t really eat meat anymore. The rest of the folk on the trip though aren’t really happy about the absence of their winter’s meat. Everyone enjoyed the camping and canoeing though so all was not lost. I suspect if it had rained or snowed they would have been grumpy, but this wasn’t the case. For more pictures just click here
This just looks pretty!

McQueston River

Saturday morning we were up early and did the final packing and organizing for moose hunting 2005. Lawrie is off to canoe this river in Yukon that is located north of Mayo and south of Dawson City. The folks along are seasoned canoers and it should be a great time if the weather is reasonable. Reasonable weather would be no snow, above zero temperatures, and less wind than a hurricane. It was raining most of the way to the put in and the road was quite greasy. I left them with their gear on the beach and washing the canoes. Have fun I say! I didn’t run out of fuel before I got back to Mayo and was surprised that the price there was a meer 109.9 for a litre of diesel. Not bad considering it is around 102.9 in Whitehorse. After getting permission to leave the truck at the take out I put the Os in the car and came home. 10 pm it was by the time I got here. Just a 14 hour contribution to the hunting this year. I think I’ll actively start encouraging Lawrie to take up sky-diving. This saga is not over, I’ll return for the next installment tomorrow.
