When you get to the end consider the fact that dP and I did that straight – no stopping – like so many other foolish people who head up to Whitehorse! WOW! 6 Months of travelling. I am so envious. You’ll have to bring Oscar and Oreo over for play session with Stryder when you hit Calgary in your travels. We’ll get the barbeque pit going and make it a huge party. By then we should have the new fence up. If you need a place to stay in the Annapolis Valley in NS let me know (if you are indeed heading that way – I heard a rumour that you may bypass NS and go straight to NFLD). My parents would be thrilled to have house guests.

By the time you wrote your comment we were in fact off the Alaska Highway and merrily on our way down the Stewart Cassiar Highway. Next time you come to our neck of the woods, do this highway, it is great scenery. We loved the Annapolis Valley and will head back that way for a canoe around Kejimakujik (likely spelled wrong) and may in fact email you for your parents phone number. Newfoundland will be getting a fair chunk of time, but we won’t eliminate anything to do that. And yes, let’s plan on a visit on the flip side … Lawrie is busy being interviewed right now and as Calgary wasn’t on the map on the way East, we aren’t lingering! We’ll try and have O2 a little better trained so as to not adversly affect Stryder when we get back :)

I do a radio show your son Jon listens to. He called the show and mentioned your trip and has posted info in our forums. It sounds like you’ll have a wonderful time!

I saw your itinerary for Atlantic Canada (Halifax is my home town). You should put on your list Peggy’s Cove (the most photographed spot in Canada) and The South Shore, in particular, Lunenburg, where the Bluenose was built (the ship on the dime).

Also in Halifax, the Museum of the Atlantic is a wonderful exhibit about Halifax’s place in world history. And, as you both like gardening, take in Halifax’s Public gardens, often called the “finest example of Victorian public space” in North America.

If you get to the Bay of Fundy area, make sure you have time to see the tides (highest in the world at 65 ft). And make sure you leave room for a lobster dinner … mmmmm … lobster … :-)

I miss my home town and province so I will be visiting it through you. I hope you don’t mind. :-)

As for the Nation’s Capital, make sure you at least visit Parliament Hill. It’s a gorgeous building and really makes you feel connected to the rest of the country.
